Re: Video showing thermal performance

Any change of supplier would involve retooling... the 12um ULIS is a drop in replacement, minimal effort/cost. The low mag units could then use smaller (cheaper) lenses to keep the magnification low. Wonder if we should expect an autumn or spring announcement?

Re: US Military Kit

The big US thermal companies responded to an export review by arguing that their inability to export meant they had less money for R&D and that other countries had stuff that was virtually the same spec. There might be some ITAR changes to thermal, but I couldn’t decypher the official document.

Re: Video showing thermal performance

I would expect people to be used mid wave IR in the 3-5um band, less affected by humidity, need called detectors and higher resolution lenses. You probably won’t get a whole lot more pixels though. A lot of military technology is driven by “off the shelf” commercial as some militaries have had ever ...

Re: Video showing thermal performance

OK so we might have to wait till later in the year, but scale ramp of the 320 and announcement of the 640. Wonder when we’ll see the next price drop from sensor pixel shrink... drop in replacement for the current sensors... https://www.ulis-ir.com/media/press-release/ramp-up-production-of-12-m.pdf T...

Re: Video showing thermal performance

I have been wondering about the Ulis too... only a 320pixel core, so equivalent to the (unobtanoum) FLIR boson. I would hope/expect Pulsar to announce something, Hunter maybe they’ll wait a bit given they’ve just announced a couple of new units like the binocular. Maybe they’ll wait till FLIR releas...

Re: Pulsar 2018

Boson was announced nearly 2yrs ago and only just making it into available products that were announced a year ago. The prices are not as low as you’d hope with tiny pixels and the 640core is still dream-ware... will it be spotted in the wild in 2018. Time for others to capitalise and grab market sh...

Re: Pulsar 2018

2019... FLIR of late have launched things that have either yet to hit market or were cancelled. I’d wait till it is available and see what other people have brought out in the meantime

https://www.iwa.info/en/ausstellerprodukte/iwa18/product-9943498/accolade-thermal-imaging-scopes Thanks for the heads up... more types of good stuff, but as warned, no more cheaper stuff. “High Res”, looks like maybe 640 and with a 50mm lens on. Could be costly. PEter PS https://www.all4shooters.com...

Re: Pulsar Trail Upgrade?

The 17um Pulsar units were announced about 8months after Ulis announced the sensors. The new 12um sensors are pin compatible with the existing 17um ones, so could just be dropped in. Been more than that since the 13um were released, maybe depends on the competition (or lack of) from FLIR. Also 320pi...
