Re: Best Monocular - for spotting sub £1000

It's the cheapest decent performance thermal available and will certainly enable you to see the ne'er do wells long before they know you are about
The next step up is Pulsar Helion XQ38F, but that's near £2k

Re: Best Monocular - for spotting sub £1000

For less than £1k you won't be getting any thermal kit - which would be the best since you would be completely covert. Night vision equipment within your budget will require infra red illumination and that can be seen by humans To be able to identify vehicle types and specifically registration numbe...

The shutter is more likely to fail in the open position because there's small solenoid that has to receive power and then physically move the shutter in front of the sensor against spring pressure. if the shutter sticks in the closed position, I reckon a sharp tap on the side of the unit will free i...

Re: Quantum or Helion?

Really only Thomas Jacks in this country that can deal with repairs and I think in most cases they simply send them back to Pulsar - which can mean weeks or months away. A faulty shutter is not necessarily a problem unless it sticks in the closed position. if it sticks in the open position, somethin...

I'd totally agree with you that the quantum is much more user friendly - you'll have difficulty finding one second hand because, if you have one, there's no real advanta...

Re: Wanted nv add on

On my 22 rimfire with subsonics out to 100 yards, the built in illuminator is more than good enough.
At longer ranges on the 22 hornet I use a 3x42 sunnranger with an AS pill.
If I really need to stretch its legs then one of Ian Sirrels T74s with an AS pill

Re: Wanted nv add on

The vulpine uses the same camera and screen as the old Nitetek NT300
I have an NT300 and I have an addonight.
The addonight is much better (and considerably cheaper)
