Possible new section on the forum.
Just a little fact finder to see who would like to see an "Air Rifle and Pistols" section on the forum.
Yay or nay, and maybe the the reason why, if it's a nay. We're not trying to compete with Airgun BBS on this. We simply thought that it might be of interest as there are lots of posts regarding nv on your air rifles, and also the odd one on air rifles themselves.
Your thought please.
Thanks.

As an air rifle shooter myself I say yes. I joined this forum because I was going to buy a night vision set-up, but since joining air rifle range night sight set-ups have been laughed at, you proper gun shooter always want to see 1000 miles. Some of the technology that is outdated to you could be of use for us close range shooters.
I have no idea how or if it can be done but we don't want the constant "what's best .22 or .177".

Re: Possible new section on the forum.
I swing both ways, but as said " don't make it like bbs ".
May be a dedicated DIY night vision for sub 12. As far as a dedicated air gun section ( as every thing Airgun), I am not in favour of.
Ps, swinging is to do with sub 12 and fac, please don't comment other wise.

Re: Possible new section on the forum.
a general airgun section could'nt hurt....i'm not keen on a airgun d.i.y n.v section though, has the potenial to become very messy. with varied info being spread out and lost
what would be a good idea IMHO. is anyone asking for advice should be encouraged include what n.v they are using and/or what rifles they want it for
i use a bike and a landrover forum and they have banners and stuff reminding you to be specific in what vehicle your asking about.....it works well
also anyone taking the mick out of airgun shooters, toy's, popguns ect should be persecuted mercilessly lmao

Re: Possible new section on the forum.
I'd vote for a 'Rifle' section split into three subsections for 'Air' 'Rim' and Center'
I was going to ask for one for 'talking bollox' but decided not too

Land Rovers, who would be daft enough to own one?

Re: Possible new section on the forum.
My thoughts are we already have a section for rifles and ammo, maybe change it to "guns and ammo"?
Reason being if we form a distinction between "caliber's" we might just as well have rimfire, centrefire and shotgun sections too.
Just my initial thoughts - not trying to put a downer on the idea.
EDIT: I started this post about half hour ago and got sidetracked, by which time several others have posted.
I currently view each section as a matter of course but if we get many more I'd likely start being selective about which sections I open - like wot I do - or don't do on the BBS

I'm actually very surprised to hear you say that.porkycrook wrote:As an air rifle shooter myself I say yes. Yes, there are those who strive for greater distance with nv/ir, but I can't say I've noticed any posts which degrade the use of nv on air rifles. Apart from some out and out distance ir illuminators, which are non-adjustable for focus/de-focus, most ir builds that are going on have the ability to be used for near or far distances.

*As an aside, I think if you check, Mark, Marky610, has probably done more videos with his gear mounted to an air rifle than a centrefire. He does a lot of ratting with nv.
