fitting ej230 with cs lens

Post by andy6149 » 29 Dec 2014, 14:06

Hi, I'm going to use my ej230 as a spotter, already have a 5-100 cs lens and have ordered the adaptor from stock optics to go from m12 to cs. I know there are options to bin the ej housing all together but I don't want to do that. Without access to a lathe or CNC machine what is the best way people have found to shorten the threads to allow cs lens to focus? I'm thinking bench grinder?

Thanks

Hacksaw, than sand it down. 5mm or so should do it. You'll be better off with a c mount lens as it sits further away from sensor.

Plus with that there's no need to shave the eg down

i took a tad under 5mm off with a junior hacksaw and then faced it up with a fine file.

You'll be very lucky to get any CS mount lens close enough to the sensor which is quite a way inside the front of the camera tube.

I was sure it had been done with an ej230 and cs lens

I tink it can be done with Rolaids because his tube is possibly shorter than the EJ230 tube.

So.... Cs adapter arrived today, using dremel I took slightly over 5mm off the ej230 body and attached my 5-100 cs lens - all good! As a bonus I also discovered with this lens I can still mount it behind the scope, the lens is right up to the eye piece but once I refocus the lens it works great so I can use the rig either on or off the rifle
