Vfc2 dimmer/variable resistor

Post by bobc » 04 May 2016, 10:53

Hi guys
Ive searched unsuccessfully for quite a while for a thread where it was discussed about adding a variable resistor/potentiometer to a vf2c screen to dim down the "backlight " if thats the correct term.
Can anyone remember the thread or indeed tell me what size resistor/potentiometer i would need? Also if I remember correctly the backlight has a red and a black wire to it, does it matter which one it goes in ?
Thanks
Atb

Cut the red wire from the driver board to the backlight and solder the cut ends to a 1 kohm potentiometer - job done

Cheers

Hi, i do the pots 1K with switch , so you can control the power and brightness with the same pot switch. making your build neater !

Here is a photo of a diagram i did to help people, i do the smallest 1K pots you can get !

Its not just about the Ohms , its also about the taper........you may have got a 1K pot before with the wrong taper and think that the 2.2 has a better dimmer quality. I have tried many and the ones i now have produced from a factory got them spot on for my customers

Yes, you can fit a dimmer to the VF-2C, but it's fiddly and easy to break something.

Yes you can add a 1k dimmer switch, i do have a few left in stock if you need one, i also have a drawing so its easy for you to wire into the VF2C

Kind regards CRS
