..orange is actually power +, white is ground -
Hmmm. looking at the picture of the plug, you would get that if the plug was put in the wrong way round.

Or if the plug was wired up in the factory with the wires in reverse order. (not sure about blue being video, but it's worth a thought).

The plug will only go in one way round mate. I've had it before with things bought from china, including one of the similar usb type micro displays, they have only been the red and black round the wrong way though. I always check the boards on cheap chinese stuff before I wire anything up to ascertain what is actually ground and then work from there, as you probably know reverse voltage will kill some things. Bit crappy really but what can we do

I bought a load of 'extension leads' that fit the plug for the E700, only to find that all the outer wires were in reverse sense to the E700 lead itself. Caused several 'doh!' moments after soldering.

After a few months of not doing much with it, I've decided to carry on where I left off to get the scope where I want it to be.
In the meantime, here's a vid from one of my first tests (done in october but only just uploaded)

I've never uploaded videos before so if there's any viewing issues let me know.

Wow!

Sorry for not seeing this before.

I am so impressed...

One question for you... I have few old scopes lying around but they don't have front/side parallax adjustment.
Do you think this(your system) could work with them or I just forget on that?

I don't think it would work 'messer.
At the start of the video you'll notice the mound of grass in the foreground...this was about 25 yards from me. I managed to get a pretty decent image from there up to nearly 300 yards without needing to touch the AO but it was only on x4. When the mag is increased it becomes a lot more focus fussy so the AO is needed. You may get away with some lens caps with different size holes (think iris's) but that would be a whole load of mucking about in the field.
If you do decide to try it, check the scopes beforehand for loss of zero whilst zooming...if the zero does shift, it won't work with that scope.

I was afraid that you'll say that :) Anyway I am in process of building my first near eye and while I am waiting for some parts on slow boat from China I'll just admire your build...

Hey hutty, stuck on step 2,
2) Use the lens removal tool to remove the lens retaining ring.
What is a lens removal tool?
