Post by paulham » 23 Jan 2018, 20:11

Can anyone recommend a good <=5v camera suitable for a near-eye build?

Yes, I have one. It's more sensitive than my E700 and EJ230. Especially if you can utilize the 1/1.8" size sensor by using 1/2" lens. I can walk with it at night with some moon light without IR. I can't do that with E700.
If you want something cheaper, you can buy runcam eagle 2 or owl 2. I have an eagle 2 which is very good with IR.

Or the Foxeer night wolf v2 which is even cheaper than runcam eagle 2 and some consider it perform the same as eagle 2 at low light.

Hi john,

Have you tried it outside yet in the dark? Specs don't look that good for night use compared to the runcams.

I might go for that Foxeer night wolf v2

No I tried it out in the shed just to make sure it worked but there is a pretty good review of it here

+1 for foxeer night wolf V2, I'm getting awesome results with it.

33 euros from hobbking , can't go wrong.

It's got voltage reading too.

And performance at 940nm is said to be better than others ...
