Watec board camera settings ?

Post by marcos58 » 05 Mar 2013, 11:47

Hi All,

Nearly finished my add on using the watec board camera from the cheap watec group buy and was just
wondering about the settings ? I have had a quick look at previous posts and it seems shutter on and gain
low are the way to go. I assume the Switch vr6 is the manuel gain but what are the other 3 switches;
Sw4 Agc/Mgc, high low modes, Sw3 Gamma/Agc Mgc on or off ????
Help and advise with the settings would be very very welcome please !

When I done this I sat there with the illuminator on and flicked the switches and turned the pot till I got the best picture at the best distance and left it at that.

If I remember I will check when I get home and post it up.

Cheers
Paul

Thanks Paulham , that was going to be the route I was

to get me out into the field quicker !

when asking for advice, please include what n.v device and/or illumination you already have (if any) and what rifles you intend to use them on...cheers

Using the image below as a reference, these are the settings I'm using at the moment.
P.s - switch 1 is not on the same place as in the pic below. It's on the right of the dial rather than below it.

Sw1- up
Sw2- position 9
VR6- untouched
Sw3-up, down
Sw4- down

Hope this helps.

Yeah just use my settings to start off with, when I set it up I got eye shine off a mouse running around 25meters away down the garden.

Also I took it out the other week and was getting eye shine off rabbits and owls well over 100meters away.

Problem is that the camera and the screen I have aren't compatible, hopefully when my DVR arrives I can get some nice footage.

Hi All,

So I played in the back garden , returned the settings to the factory settings, ( I think !) post on the forum about
the best settings . Paulham replied, so took said Watec board camera into work, dark warehouse Marky light mk4
at 25meters, target sign on wall. I used Paulhams base settings to start and, wahay ! let there be light, 45 mins later
with lots of fiddling and lots of scribbled notes some very annoyed work mates (good job I am the boss)! returned
to my desk and read my notes, you guessed it , my best setting for this test are the original factory ( I think) settings ,
Dooh! I am using the Watec board camera as an add on for my scope, using a stock optics 16mm 1/3 lens as it
was from my original add on and the distance was only 25 meters but these settings seem to work for me. Next test
on the back of the Ags 4x6x56 swat on my .17hmr using my Markylight mk4 in the field, settings might be totally wrong/
different ,but haho! still do not understand all this Gamma Agc Mgc ?
To be continued.......

Marcos.
