Best doubler for the photon

Postby beakie74 » 10 Apr 2016, 15:29

Hi guys ,
I'm considering getting a photon 6.5,
And will be using a using doubler on it if I do.
My question is - what's the most popular / best doubler to use with the photon , the Yukon 2.5 or something more expensive designed for a camera . ?

I got the 2.5 on the internet (Russia) but I had to source a 6.5 without the collar glued in so that I could fit it. It's on a Tikka T3 .243 with a Black Sun torch.
I've been very impressed with it. Easily takes shots out to 150m and could probably go further.

Paddlers what do I look for exactly when buying a 6.5 , what part is "glued in" and if I do get one that's glued , can it be removed ?

I have a new 6.5 x50 photon and yukon doubler 1.7 but the coller is glued in so the doubler won't screw in ? How am I to fit it now ? Is there still a adapter out there or do I have to go and get one made from a camera shop. :

The coller is been made £45 to sleeve the lens on the photon 6.5 xt and lock tight on, then the doubler will screw to that and lock in place with the locking ring which comes with the doubler. Should have it in a couple of days
I have also done the photon extreme with a 105 f2.8 m42 fit which is not as good as the doubleded standard lens. But it is better than the standard lens on its own . That's what I found on my photon any way
And have up rated ir to nm800, which is working well could see further with the doubler 400m than the extreme 300m ( approx )
The best thing to do if you have not tampered with it and you want a lot better image, just go straight for the doubler and get a coller made . You wouldn't even need to take the scope of your gun.

something seriously wrong with your conversion if you can only see 300m.look at the other posts about the xtreme we can all shoot clearly at over 300m and see to at least 600
fizz and some of the others with upgraded illuminators are getting further than that,i may stand corrected but i dont see a doubled photon touching an xtreme conversion day or nighttime

standard 800 just hype by its price have a bs t20 on an extreme and shoot up to 300 yards have used a bs pilled 800 but still not touch a black sun t50 for 1/3 the price then the next league are sunrangers check your extreme lens sounds iffy. the doubler however does improve a crap lens though as it collects most of the picture through the centre of the of the lens not the lesser quality glass around the edge, don't think Yukon are going to put much of a lens on a 350 quid scope

I've got 3 6.5 Photons.
1 Standard
1 with Yukon Doubler
! 'Extreme' Conversion with a 55 & 105 lens

I put a bit of footage on Youtube of the various pictures I get.
I have a Black Sun on all three.

To be honest they're all good. I get good picture quality by my standards with all three and for £400 for the basic scope I think they're very good value.

I was chatting yesterday to a chap who'd looked through a $28000 scope and has a pvs 14 . He thought the picture through mine was ok so that'll do for me. Tried an Archer & a Longbow but prefer the Photon. If I get anything else it'll be a Drone 10X. :D

Finding late manufactured photons without the glued in collar might be a challenge !!
