Is it recommended, are the internals up to it.

No its not recommended, in general no n/v is recommended for spring powered air rifles, i might be wrong here but i think they recoil both ways, and although certain n/v might be rated for high powered centre fire rifles which only recoil one way ?
A WDV 700 will be second hand, this means if it does break on a spring powered air rifle, you will have the cost to repair it, you might get away with it, but its certainly not recommended, multi shot air rifles are far better.

Send Clive Ward on here a pm, he makes them.

Thanks for the replies,

I’ve sent Clive a pm, but I was after information from anybody had used one on a spring airgun and if there were any issues.

The WDV 700 is mine and has been used on PCP’s and rimfires for about 3 years now. I’ve decided to get let Clive relieve me of some cash for one of his WDV 800 and pass the 700 on to my son who won’t use anything other than a spring air rifle. He currently swaps his day scope for a Photon XT when night shooting. The Photon has been no problem on his HW97K.

If it’s a definite NO from Clive, then there will be a second hand 700 in the for sales section soon.

I suspect devices with fixed battery packs might be OK for a springer - but if they have user insert batteries that rely on a spring to tension the battery against the positive terminal the double recoil is likely to cause a brief circuit break during one of the recoil directions. That requires the device to do a restart which means the user doesnt get to see the projectile strike.

Having been inside a wdv a few times it mmight be ok y'know.
The camera and battery are mounted with some closed cell foam and most of the rest is pretty robust looking. Obviously take clive's advice though

when asking for advice, please include what n.v device and/or illumination you already have (if any) and what rifles you intend to use them on...cheers

Thanks for the information again.
Just had a pm from Clive to say that the WDV 700 unit is proofed for recoil in both directions so shouldn't be a problem on a spring air rifle.
