I would like first to thank you Carl for sponsoring the forum over the past years and being a big part of putting this forum on the map,you have been a big part of the forum in many ways and always given sound advice.
I wish you your family and employees all the very best for the future in all you do,it's very sad and unfair the way this has happened but if I know you at all you will not let this hold you back in what ever you decide to do in your future ventures.

Best regards and good luck
Geoff

Re: responce from FLIR

Post by bobjs » 31 Jan 2018, 17:01

posted this reply from FLIR.

seems by this response they don't give a toss,

and if they bring out anything Digital that's as good as the drone I will drop mine from the top of tower here at work and go and buy it,

Dear Mr. Coleman,

I understand your frustration with the Drone Pro being made obsolete from 1st February2018.
You are right invoicing the high regard it is held by many in the UK, and it is a shame that we have made it obsolete.
Although we don’t have anything in the pipeline to replace it at present, FLIR is creating many new products over 2018-2019, which may improve on the Drone Pro.

We will of course be honouring the warranty, which is a FLIR warranty (not Night Vision Gear’s warranty).
To organise a warranty repair/service, please contact one of our FLIR distributors, who should arrange for it to be shipped to our service partner in Germany, or to our HQ in USA.
For a list of our distributors in the UK, please see below, although Sure24 and Night Vision Thermal UK are both involved in selling Drone Pro and might be your preferred choices for this.

Re:and again ?

I am in conversation with them but it seems they are not to Blame? REALLY.

and you can still get the original screen/display if you are willing to pay for it, but with the inferior one you are still expected to pay the full UK price, it stinks of sod you lot we don't care, and I have said so.

Honestly, we did not remove the Drone Pro to reduce competition.
The people who created the Drone Pro at Armasight are the same ones (now at FLIR) who have decided to make it obsolete, so it was not FLIR’s buying of Armasight that motivated it going obsolete.
FLIR can’t sell thermal weapon sights to hunters outside of USA due to ITAR restrictions, so that would not make sense either.

You can still purchase the AMOLED screen version if you wish. Sure24 or other distributors inthe UK can quote you for this.
We only changed itto the FLCOS as standard, as the AMOLED is so expensive ($300 more than FLCOS),with very small difference in quality.
AMOLED as atechnology is still in its early stages and so very expensive for the marginalbenefits over FLCOS.

I would be sorry to hear if despite the above information, you still feel the same.

I cant post my reply as I got very hot under the collar about removing the back up for the current drone from Carl? that means if the new support group cant fix it its off to the states,

I also asked how long the tech and spares support will last ?...as yet nothing

as yet no response from them but I did get a response from another one of their new contacts for back up and support but that was just to say if I need technical support then they will provide it,

all I said was bring Carl Moore back that to us in the UK would be Job DONE?

sadly that's not going to happen is it,
