I was running 39gr SBK for a few years, but now run 32gr Vmax foxes drop with both but 32gr gets there quicker

Thought I'd update the thread...

Picked up a new Tikka T3x .204 varmint stainless last week, and bought an A-tec mod for it. Put the photon xtreme on and had a zeroing session today.

40 grain ammo shoots well, very well in fact but I've got some 32 grain on order to try out.

I've bunged a schmidt 6x42 on the 223 for lamping and daytime duties

You won't go wrong with a 204 T3 varmint. I reload for mine but the hornady 32grn are very good. Let us know how you go on with it.

Cheers, I'm off the mark with it now after knocking over a dog fox last night :D always nice to christen a new rifle!

I didn't lose the sight picture, so fingers crossed it'll be the same on every shot.

Just as a matter of interest Warbucks, I'm using a similar setup to you, .223, drone 2.6" from bore, using hornady superformance 53g, according to there calculator I'm getting all shots from 50 to 200yds inside a 1 5/8" ( 41mm approx ) circle with approx 1 1/2 hold over at 250 yds, in other words all shots out to 250yds inside 3" circle.

Can anyony tell me how a 204 compares to a 22-250,been thinking of a 22-250 for daytime use and keeping my 204 for use with nightvision. As with the 204 can see crows ,rabbits and fox drop, would it be the same with 22-250 or would there be muzzle flip and lose sight picture.

Even with a heavy arse mod on the 22-250 you will still loose sight of shot. Stick with the .204 run a few 250's in ther past but now would never go back.

Yes i would think this will be about right.
Ive started reloading and are using Hornaday 53g v-max, at a 215 yd zero a fox at 250 yds i'm aiming top 3/4 of it to allow for the bit of drop, its working fine for me.
If yours is shooting factory Hornady 53 v-max accurately you have about the best 223 bullet available for fox-----mine won't shoot factory but will reloads, work that one out
