Sorry to take this off-topic but what is your recipe and C.O.L David ?

I measure superformance 53gr Vmax at over 2.240" long and my Winchester 70 is excellent with 50gr at nearer 2.220"

I'm certainly not an expert with reloading.

My home loaded 53g v-max is 20.7 gn's of n120
Overall length to lands 2.313"
max mag length 2.303"

My over hall bullet length 2.273"

This is with a Tikka T3 lite in 223.

My idea was to have the bullets as long as possible but to still work in the mag without jamming and gradually push them back to get best accuracy for mine this was on the money at 2.273", doesn't leave much gap in the mag, but iv'e had no problems, ie 10mm group's at 100 yds with the Drone Pro with the day light filter on, and in fairness you carn't see to that level after all it is a night vision.

I'm also new to reloading and would like to use 53 gr vmax but need to work out why the superformance disappoints in so many rifles.

I know the primer is crimped and I know some .223's are chambered to accept 5.56mm rounds ,so I was suspecting bullet seating depth may be the problem.

The 53 grain is much more tapered than the 40,50 and 55 vmax so the tip could enter further into the barrel before it touches the lands.

I'll have to have a measure.
