Ludicrous Lumens

Post by Harleyman » 29 Sep 2018, 19:06

Ho, anybody tried one of their 820nm t38 ir illuminators? Seem good value at £29.99. I have a little Deben Tracer that i have put a Black Sun 2 pill in, but it doesn't do much with the CRS Addonight, as the onboard illuminator is more powerful. Wondered if the ludicrous t38 would do better?

Given it's size, the addonight illuminator is pretty amazing.
I didn't notice much difference between it at it's tightest setting and an oslon AS 850nm 4x50 sunnranger at distances out beyond 200 yards, so I don't think a ludicrous lumens T38 would do any better.

Cheers

Is the 820nm bit a mistake (instead of 860) - or are they supplying an 820nm illuminator I don't see advertised?

If it IS 820nm the more visible slightly tighter beam probably penetrates slightly further than an 860nm BS2 behind the Tracer 30mm? lens.

Clive would likely know for sure, and it might depend on the optimum wavelength the camera - which I'd imagine few know.

I'd not want to spend money on a broadly similar result from (either torch) - no idea about if it might be better than the onboard.
