Air fill in an air arms s410

Post by Glenn » 23 Dec 2017, 16:20

I have an air arms s410 carbine and just had it serviced.
I got it back and the air gauge said it was filled to 190bar but the most I can ever get it to is 100 bar and it has always been the same. Why is it and what can I do to get it to fill to 190bar. Could it be the air tank or gauge

Hi Geoff

I’m a bit green with all this. I have 2 bottles both 2ft high. They both have numbers and letters stamped in them but they don’t mean anything to me. Could it be the gauge,

Thanks for replying

You should see 300 bar or maybe less stamped on it somewere,if I remember correctly unless it's 300 bar you will never get a proper fill to 190 also if it is 300 bar on it possibly it needs filling and has run low.

there a gauge on gun and air tank if it only going to 100 bar on tank I would say it needs filling so not enough air in bottle to fill gun

An older 232 bar cylinder will fill an air gun to 190 bar no problem

You can only ever get into the air rifle what is in the cylinder pressure wise never more. Unless you pump it .
All your doing is decanting existing pressure from one vessel to a smaller vessel .
If all you can get is 100 bar .... check the pressure in your dive cylinder it maybe only at 100 bar therefore that’s all your gonna get until you get cylinder refilled.

If you don’t know what your doing I strongly suggest you get someone to show you ......
I’ve seen too many people mistreating pressure and it can kill.
To give you an idea
Your car tyre is 30 psi or approx 2 bar
A dive cylinder at 232 bar is approx 3000 psi plus !

It’s same enough just be aware and follow procedures

I suggest you get the air bottle to a diving centre that does bottle fills before trying anything else because it sounds like its getting 'empty' and may need its periodic dive bottle test too.
