A cheap diy thermal scopless

Postby lightmesser » 15 Nov 2017, 19:22

Could it be doable?

I found this https://www.aliexpress.com/store/produc ... 02827.html
Slapp in a mount or two + new micro display + reticle generator and we potentially made 1700 GBP worth scopless?

Any good?

Edit: Probably it could be more than 100 GBP cheaper cause he sends large monitor with it and I don't have to mention that we really don't need that :)

I would also like to mention that it looks solid and waterproof?

Assuming the figures they quote for FOV/IFOV and lens size are true, then the pixel size is 32 micron.
Current Thermal cores are 17 micron, and even the previous generation cores were 25 micron.
Plugging the numbers into our thermal range calculator would give a maximum detection range (i.e 1 bright pixel) for a fox size target of 262m.
I'd save my money for something substantially better than that.

Cheers

Hmmm...

Do we have something similar on the market that could be fitted as a scopless for approximately similar money?

I don't mean scratch build out of parts but ready thermal devices like this?

Edit: I meant to say "almost ready thermal device" :)

Yes,

That looks potent contender for scoples?

I can bet this can be reworked to scopless https://therm-app.com/product/app-hz-35 ... ories-kit/

One quality mount, power supply and micro display.

Custom Riflescopes do them (forum member Splatty) http://customriflescopes.com/thermapp.html
I understand these are manufactured in Israel and a special licence is needed to import the 25Hz version.
