Depends on what your priority is, wide field of view vs more detailed or slightly longer distance i.d., if you're familiar with the '38 then 1) imagine it being a lesser field of view you can take in, and b)imagine you can see the located target/source a little better defined. It really depends on what type of ground and many other factors, but in the end will come down to personal choice. Spotter for spotting, best you have the fov in my opinion, but others may have a differing view. Do try to track down someone willing to let you compare them side by side, it's the best way to determine which will suit you best.
