Post by camo304 » 17 Sep 2018, 07:44

This is the spec off it, they are using a 75mm lens to replace the 50mm pulsar use. Wonder if they could do this with the Trail's?? can't upload pic to large price is 5500USD

Good spot, looks like a normal XP 640 res Helion with a bigger lens mounted on.

The Helion has a removable lens the Trail unfortunately does not, so if this is the same as a normal Helion, I wonder if they would sell the lens on its own......

Scroll down for pics with big lens fitted

A standard Helion XP with a new big lens attached.
They have just managed to produce a thermal spotter equivalent to the one I built myself and have been using successfully for the last 4 years!!
Almost equivalent - mine has a faster f1.0 lens and an 800x600 OLED display instead of the 640x480 on the Pulsar
However, mine doesn't have on board recording (but it does have AV out), wi-fi or colour palettes other than white hot and black hot

Actually taking a closer look at the pics it looks like they have removed the QR part of the Helion body and screwed on an adapter for the big lens which looks like it screws on this adapter. So no chance of a lens upgrade without the adapter and you wouldn't be able to easily swap between the two.

However taking a close look at my Trail and Helion, the bit this adapter screws on to looks the same on both models so potentially it could maybe fit a Trail as well, you would obviously need the raise the mounting height as well.

I did find this from the same manufacturer:

https://hssec.en.alibaba.com/product/60 ... 6d10A0M5mO

Looks like the same unit as above at mo, ie a Helion but will be worth keeping an eye on it as they may update date the listing later as it does say it is for a rifle scope.

A Trail with a 75mm lens would be well worth having IMO

I can't believe Pulsar will be happy with these versions, perhaps it is the same factory where they are getting them made (although I thought they were made in Eastern Europe) and they are getting away with it because they are slightly different versions to the ones Pulsar sells.
