Ward D Vision 800

Post by cliveward » 03 May 2016, 13:21

Hi All,

We've discontinued the current Ward D Vision 700 unit, due to very uncertain supply of the display components, so we have been spending the past few months furiously working on it's replacement....the Ward D Vision 800.

Image

As you can see the unit uses the same format and the only obvious addition is the variable brightness control for the display. We've located this control next to the power button to protect that from accidental activation.

In addition to this brightness control, the major changes are the display is now 800x600 resolution and we have replaced the E700 camera with a more up to date, higher resolution, higher efficiency unit.

Essentially it sees further, and in more detail than it's predecessor.

I've been using the prototype for a few weeks now and the image is very good indeed. ;)

Pricing will be a bit more than the current unit due to the cost of the display, but we are trying to keep this increase as sensible as possible.

Other good news is all current WDV and WDV700 will be able to be upgraded to WDV800 spec.

Cheers

Hi All,

To keep the costs sensible, it's an LCD 800x600 display.

We're hoping to keep it around £100 more expensive than the old model.

Hi All,

Not sure on the upgrade price yet. We need to look at this carefully to see what 'buy back' we can allow for the obsolete parts which would be handy for future warranty service of older units. But we've never had a failure of a camera in the WDV or WDV700 and only a handful of display drivers go wrong in all the years we have been manufacturing these so we don't need too many. It's a tricky one and we'll give it careful thought.

The battery life should be roughly the same, but we'll do a proper run test once we have the first production models with the final components.

This sounds great! The current model with my dragonfly is fantastic and after having PVS14's, archers and a Drone I need nothing more than the Ward its that good!
Saying that I now want the upgrade, when realistically can you do them Clive and how long will I be without it as I use it a hell of a lot!

Thanks for the endorsement. We work damn hard on this product keeping it current, upgradeable and affordable. It's nice to know it's appreciated.

Not sure when we can start doing upgrades because we have a bit of a backlog to get through first.

I will keep you all informed.
