Feral Pigeons with the 2250XL and Warden Adder Scopecam

Post by cliveward » 24 May 2018, 13:31

Hi All,

Managed to clear a few of the feral pigeons making a mess of the buildings.

The little Crosman 2250XL is just the job. I fitted it with a Bugbuster scope to have something useable for Night Vision but at the moment that's not necessary.

Day mode on the Adder worked really well even in the dark buildings at dusk. Absolutely no problem at all when I couldn't see through the day scope alone!

Cheers

How do you rate the bugbuster Clive ? do you think it would be suitable for fitting to a 800 ? would there be any room for IR etc ?

cheers

Nice shooting and what a great permission you've got there. Were you using an air rifle, if so was it sub 12 and what ranges and mag were you shooting at as the FOV appears quite small?

It's not bad at all. The buildings are only across the yard from our office.

So it's a case of do a quick circuit and pop a few pigeons, then stroll back to the office for a cuppa / grab a few more pellets and repeat until there are no more pigeons. 8-)

Yes it's a Crosman 2250XL CO2. I't's about 9-10 ft/lbs from memory when I tested it. Ranges were only 10-15 yards. Furthest one may have been 25 ish.

The scope is a little UTG Bugbuster which is very compact so it does have a very narrow field of view and quite a thick reticule, but it suits the little rifle very well. The scope was set on 3x which transposes to about 6x with the Adder fitted.

Had another session last night but only saw one. Landlord is happy they seem to have been evicted for the time being.

I'll give it a whirl at night when I get time.

No room at all for an IR so you would need to use rings with picatinny tops on them to mount it. It's got the correct looking coating for NV so it should work well.
