SB spotter with a choice of lenses

Post by some bloke » 09 Apr 2015, 14:28

This has an F1.4 50mm C mount lens as standard - it compares to about 3.5 'mag' if it were a scope - and is perfect for general purpose rabbit/fox spotting:

I can also supply it with either an F1.7 35mm lens for a closer range wider field of view - or an F1.4 25mm lens for almost strictly ratting at the same price.

No expense is spared on my regular spotter builds - only the very best E700 camera is used rather than some of the budget clones that seem to use cheaper but same name second or third grade sensors. The long neck of the camera body has been milled back to ensure all of the nice wide lens rear glass element see's all of the CCD sensor, similar to this:

This photo shows how it can be fitted with a camera suction mount and a DVR velcro'd to the side of the custom made battery/monitor pod.
The monitor can be trailled into a truck with an extension 'umbilical cord' - and can also be connected to a cigar lighter socket: The unit should be switched off to isolate the batteries so they don't get over-charged by the car supply.

You can expect to see this image quality on a night with decent moon & scattered clouds But with a larger field of view because this was done with a 75mm lens - also F1.4:

And this is the massive help you get from a quality camera and lens equipped spotter when its foggy:

This is how you remove the monitor to change the batteries after three hours constant run time if they are quality 18650 cells:

Price is £220 - no batteries supplied.
