SB E700 Barn/Yard Spotter reduced for 2017

Post by some bloke » 16 Jan 2016, 14:29

This variant of my 5" monitor spotters came as a result of someone asking for a wide angle spotter ideally suited to ratting in a barn or yard ETC. Anyone remember the basic reflector lens 501b torches?

These have a 5" monitor with a brightness control and a genuine KPC E700 camera inside.

They are primarily designed to be placed onto something in a barn such as a bale, feedbag, pallet, low wall, tractor etc and can be tilted down to view a wide angle. In the darkness of a barn they are generally more relaxing on the eye if viewed from beyond arms length.

Also well suited to spotting lofted pigeons and great for your shooting buddy to see what's going on too for that added essential... banter. The monitor has a short 'umbilical cord' that can be detached to avoid being a contortionist:

These require 3 18650 batteries. Please note I never supply batteries nor chargers - so I won't be a target for blame claim lawyers if someone does some wrong while charging or they go bang. I use rechargeable 18650 batteries reclaimed from laptops and carry spares in the truck being as they are free anyway:

This is how the monitor is removed to change the batteries:

The base of the Barn Yard Spotter has a metal tripod bush fitted that can accept all sorts of tripod threaded carriers, three options are offered: Mini flexible tripod as default, buyer to specify solid handle or standard suction mount if required.

An RCA outlet is fitted to enable DVR recording. Shown here with a DVR fitted to the box with Velcro and utilising an optional extra DVR cable with right angle plugs fitted at both ends, Cable cost is £10 and only available if ordered with the spotter, again, only one will generally be kept. The 4 pole 2.5mm mini jack plugs used for DVR's have several different pin out requirements - discuss this with me before buying.

As per any of my other NVD's I will usually only carry one at a time.

25mm board lenses are available from Stock Optics here:

2017 reduced price is £180 with the standard E700 16mm lens.

Retirement allows me more time to potter around with night vision builds, this one has been reduced by over 10% for 2017.
