C mount adaptors for E700 spotter builds

Post by some bloke » 18 Dec 2014, 17:59

New C mount/E700 spotter DIY build adaptors: The price of the current ones are £15 each + £6 RMSD regardless of how many you order at one time.

These first photos have been replaced to show current revised versions of the adaptors.

This is the approximate angle that the edges of better c mount lenses view the CCD sensor from: Notice how an adaptor that screws into the neck of the E700 body obstructs the view of much of the CCD sensor from the lens. Removing most of the neck would allow more light to see more of the sensor.

Notice the E700 neck has now been cropped back because the box camera is designed for board camera lenses and is too long for C mount lenses - which will foul the lens seating depth.
The bonus is massive because the whole of the C mount rear glass lens now sees the whole of the CCD sensor:

are these the same as the ones on the other thread as the others look as if there is a flat bit to put a weaver rail ,or were those the m42 slr ones

Correct - the M42 has a much longer focal length that will allow a short length of rail on the flat.

would this allow the lens to be screwed direct into the adapter or does it need a spacer between

You fit C mount cine/TV /photography lenses straight to the adaptor. They are not suitable for the long zoomable so called C mount lenses which are in fact mostly CS mount lenses even if they are marked up as C mount.

These are the sort of 'C' mount lenses they suit, first one suits general purpose fox and rabbit ranges:

This one for mostly rabbit ranges.

This one for mostly ratting.
