Looking for a "best" spotter.

Post by Auris » 12 Jan 2018, 12:41

Hi,
I'm on a look for good spoter for 200-300 meters. I have a helion xq30f for detection, but looking for other unit for beter identification. Firstly I was considering some 3-4mag gen2+ device for that. But recently saw a yt video on yukon photon rt 4.5 and it did impress me. I know that digital always require the IR, but I think 940nm should be stealth enough for hogs not to spook them. Maby anybody knows if the internals are the same between photon rt and ranger rt? Or is there anything better from digital world that would not brake my pocket? :)
The unit should be as compact as posible. I dont want a huge thing like nitesite spotter, looking for a near eye unit.

Any comment are welcome.

when asking for advice, please include what n.v device and/or illumination you already have (if any) and what rifles you intend to use them on...cheers

No, no add-ons allowed. We can't have anything what can be mounted on a gun or day optics.

Going back to the main queation. Is there anything beter than ranger rt? Maby some newer digiforce? Or something not from yukon/pulsar product line?

I'v lost track of the specs on digi spotters tbh. Is there anything with an 800x600 display and a good bit of mag?

Most will be 640x480 in which case i reckon there wont be a huge amount in it image wise. An led illuminator would be a must for clarity though

Out of interest what tell tails are you looking for to sex the boar?
