Scope mounting advice please.

Postby oilcan » 24 May 2017, 21:14

Hi, I've taken the 50mm Mamba off my Cz 527 and put it on a Tikka T3 lite 223.The shop bore sighted it so I did a rough zero at 50 yds then tried 100yds but was nearly 10ins.high. Brought it down to 1in.high ,then tried 150 yds and found it again about 8ins.high. These mounts were fine on the 527 (.222) but is shimming the front mount practical please?

Somethings not right, if its on at 50, it should be within 1.5 to 2" of the bull at 100yds

Is it an old Tikka? My mate had one which was not fully free floating. Caused him issues. The old stocks are crap in his opinion. THink the newer ones are sorted out.

Usual stuff after that. Stock screwed into action properly, moderator issues, rings, broken scope. Have heard of MTC's becoming faulty. Stick another known working scope on to see if it holds zero. If not, then you know the MTC is fine. Gotta work through the variables as something is clearly wrong

Thanks for the suggestions but have solved it,when I demounted the scope again I found the shop had left the recoil roll pin which didn't match the Tikka, protruding a few thou. After suffering a loss of confidence I've fitted new Warne mounts which are A1 and have lowered the setup.
