Sightron and adder

Post by jdk1 » 15 Oct 2018, 07:12

Would anybody know if an adder is mounted to an s-tac 3-16x42 the onboard ir would still be useable due to the quite high elevation turret ?

I’ve got bayonet adapters on both my 2.5-17.5x56 and 3-16x42 Sightron S-Tacs with the high target turrets and have no problem with the onboard IR of the Adder.

I’ve fitted a low profile picatinny rail upfront to both scopes but the onboard IR is so good I’ve not felt the need to add any additional illumination for the ranges I’m shooting at (300BLK & .22LR).

Something to add is that IIRC there were some previous concerns on the forum about the suitability of the MOA reticle on the 42mm S-Tac for use with NV as it’s very fine.

There are no issues when using it with the Adder as the scope can remain on it’s lowest 3x mag for best NV performance, + the Adder’s native 2x on top of that, and then dial in, say, 2x digital mag on the Adder screen for an all up 12x mag with minimal image degradation and an easily viewable reticle. Pretty much win, win.

Totally agree with this - keep the scope mag low and use some digital mag to get the best picture.
