Something with a black sun ruby pill in it, probably a Black Sunnranger ruby from The Night vision store (link above)

Where are you in Devon, do you want to try the 3 IR`s that I am trying with my N355 ?

Hi Pete,

I would say for general use up to 8/10x magnification then the Black Sun Ruby BR20 is the one to go for. That's what I use on everything now, dedicated and add on.

The aspheric illuminators have more power output than the multi lens setup of the Sunnranger types, so if you widen the beam of a Sunnranger to match the Aspheric there is a lot less power density on the Sunnranger. The Sunnrangers are very good for creating a tight beam but even at it's very tightest it still only has the same power density as a 50mm Aspheric throwing a much wider beam.
