I'm not going to gloat about mine, thanks to Bruce's generous help: its only mono but just open the sunroof, plonk it on the roof and turn it and the receiver on - no cables apart from a short battery supply to the 7" in car receiver/recorder. Reach out the roof or above the drivers window to adjust...

Hiya and welcome to the forum JB. There will be umpteen builds to get ideas from in the DIY section, unfortunately a lot of images in the posts will have gone when a file host many of us used stopped being free. The 'go to' battery that most of us use(d) is in the link below, I didn't recommend them...

HAND HELD/MAGNETIC PAN/TILT SUNROOF SPOTTER.

I made this dual purpose spotter some time ago but rarely used it as I subsequently made a thermal one that replaced it. Might I suggest you make a PCP rifle the first buy - with maybe a red lamp till you are better funded.
