OK, thanks, got it now. Still looking at phones and tariffs, not so sure now that Virgin is the best. May be more economical to just buy a phone and then sort out a sim tariff.
This may not be as simple as I first thought

I have had two and they both broke their screens. They are big and this seems to be the problem. If they flex at all, even just keeping it in your pocket and sitting down, they break. Lovely phone but too fragile by a long shot.

Hi mate,
I use the £12 monthly contract from virgin (excluding phone). This gives 1200 minutes of calls, unl. text, 1GB of internet data. Just right for me. The telephone that I use is a Nokia N8-00 and I find the camera very acceptable. Originally this phone cost around £400 but over four years ago i got it on contract. I chose this phone because of the good camera and especially for its video quality and sound reproduction. I have recorded several videos of live bands, it is great for high gain recording. You can get apps for this phone but I do not use them. It is now an old model but for around £40 or less you cannot go wrong with it.

I even use to record some of my guitar videos...
