Re: Advice
Most common 4x4 engines in for fixing MITSUBISHI
least common TOYOTA.
That's what I saw as an engine reconditioner.
Mostly L200 8 valves then the 4m40 and the 4m41 engines. Cracked heads, warped heads, main bearings on block cracked.not the shells, the blocks.low oil pressure then knackered cranks.
Most common landrover? TD5. Cracked heads
Nissian navara .cracked heads ,condone through the block.
In 5 1/2 years working there I saw 5 Toyota heads in .and they were of forklifts lol.

Re: Advice
Have a look at the Sunday Times motoring section today. New LR Defenders will no longer be available in the UK in a couple of years so ST tested what might be capable of replacing them by testing alternatives on a serious off road track.
Only 2 vehicles made it round the track - Landcruiser and Shogun, and the Shogun struggled because of poor ground clearance.
Note - none of LR other products (Disco, Range Rover etc) made it round the track.
Cheers

LAND ROVER - THE WORLD'S WORST 4X4 BY FAR
Re: Advice
Gotta say i find that hard to believe. i'll see if i can have a look at the articlephoenix wrote:Note - none of LR other products (Disco, Range Rover etc) made it round the track.
But the lr defender is the best factory standard off roader in the world....none of the modern jap 4x4's can even come close to a defender in its natural habitat
the current defender will be no more at the end of this year. To be replaced by something built on the T4 (disco 3) chassis
Or at least that was their plan last time i checked it out
Re: Advice
My L200 makes it round any muddy field I've tried
Heads not cracked either
But I don't tow plant trailers or do silly high speed motorway miles.
