very soon these are going to be under £2000 by the looks of it, maybe I wait a few weeks longer and see, would have bought one a few weeks ago had I not had a major expense on my 300tdi defender

How can you have a major expense on a 300 ? Engine's only a couple (few) hundred quid :o

Head gasket went, that was the start of it, so head skim pressure test, valves lapped, new seals, clean and decode £90 gasket set and head bolts, found a bent con rod, so rod big ends ,bolts & nuts, rings while I,m in there and new turbo core as that was worn, yes a second hand engine may be less, but who knows what your getting so yes a few hundred £s
