Looks like you're using a prism or mirror to get the image to camera? In regard to your light source and as an alternative to your Lightforce, some of the lads have made their own high power IR LED by using the star LED's (Osram and the likes).

Yes, I will be keeping a keen eye out and scouring everything LED that pops up - the technology in regards to IR LED is really starting to pick up so hopefully things will progress soon and there will (hopefully) be an easier solution in future.
