Yes, the link worked. Assuming you're looking at the same thing in both auto and semi auto, then there's definitely something wrong with it.

No problem with the battery compartment for me, I'm glad to say.

I've got the EC model. I do get a 'blurred' or grey image of the landscape when it rains or rained. However whilst I sometimes can't see the lay of the land the hot spots are plain to see and as I know exactly where I'm looking it isn't a problem. In your pictures I can get a similar effect in auto if I look up to the skyline at times where the screen seems to lighten and darken rapidly. Can you still detect heat sources in auto? Are they clear?

I've posted these earlier in the thread with a few poor vids also but to save you looking here's some pic's taken on my EC in auto...

This is the same pic on standard black hot..
It still shows the heat sources well though from where the centre sheep was lying down.

This one was taken in bad rain, notice how there's just no contrast in the background. There's only a slight difference between the ground and the trees behind the sheep but the sheep show up fine. I'm not sure if this is how your unit performs but from your pics it doesn't look like your unit is performing as it should to me either if that's the image you get at 'all' times.

No crack in my battery cover either and they've been in and out a million times already  I will say that I have to press firmly on the cover to close it though so I'll now take extra care..

In that case there's definitely something up with it, I think another call to your supplier is in order.

Darren, I have a Guide 518EC and live near Southend, Essex, I know it is a fair way from you but would be happy to do a comparison if you want to come here.

I use my Guide in Auto all the time and have had no problems so far, if the picture looks to be going "off" I just press the Calibrate button and all is well again.
