As for bar oil, i just look around for the best deal on 50ltrs. Its a total loss lubrication system so i'm notvtoo fussed on the brand.....normal engine oil will ruin your bar and chain though
Ah, now that explains a lot

And possibly the fact that when it stops coming out I don't give a **** and just carry on

I remember trying to explain to a mate about tensioning a saw chain, eventually i thought i'd cracked it when i mentioned not to tension it when the chain is hot.....few weeks later i see him again and he tells me its no good, the tension is still over the place and he cant get it right
So next time i'm round at his i offer to look at it for him....after setting the tension i want to run it up and see whats happening
"Any two stroke mix?" I ask...."yeah, on that shelf" ......"wheres your bar oil mate?"......."what?".......problem solved

Yeah, I get that problem , tension chain, fire it up and it's soon hanging like a prostitutes knickers

Must give it a service, new bar and chain and clean the oiler out. it stands a chance of living a little longer then.
Either that or put it in a field and shoot it until dead

I guess that if your Stihl chainsaw does the job, is reliable and as cheap to run as any other then so be it. Subtle words of wisdom from sunndog have kept me on track here - just. But will the recalcitrant little beggar start today? At the end of the day i do not want to be at loggerheads with you blokes. Mind how you go with those saws.

Savoury Relish
You have gone way up in my estimation of you being such a good egg

in putting your head above the parapet no matter what incoming humour is headed your way, got to mark you up and give you some genuine "kudos points" and recommend that you be considered for the title " Martyr for the cause for 2 stroke oil and it's various uses" and would also point out that you need to make contact with Stan Boardman who is with you on many German issues and has seriously questioned a multitude of the Germanic qualities.

It's all good because your being educated and your learning and you have a eagerness to devour knowledge

At your rate of input and progress your going to be up there with the big kahunas with rapid speed in no time at all

I thought Stan Boardman raced bicycles on the Velodrome. I'm afraid the jury has been out on the Germans since 1914 - at least in my family that is. I wondered about the Airbus A380 debacle (having just watched the recording on Sky) now you come to mention it - but then I am a cynic. Why would a European Avionics consortium not use the same software when designing the wiring loom for an Airbus. The Krauts used a German program and the French used their own Gallic jobby apparently. It is hard to believe that it went unnoticed by both parties and presumably us Brits and the entire programme was put back by a year because the wiring went tits up. Meanwhile the Boeing company were now in the running for selling their own 777 ahead of Airbus. Where have we heard this before. Remember the German/American Lockheed 104 Starfighter - widowmaker debacle. 294 German/American F104 Starfighters lost, 108 German pilots dead and 8 American pilots dead. The Russians must have laughed all the way from the Berlin Wall back to the Kremlin - bearing in mind this was the cold war.
And now just to add the icing on the cake - my little German chainsaw that ran yesterday will not start today.

Savoury Relish,

thou should not be cutting any wood or logs on the Sabbath, you should be on your knees in the Lord's house praying and committing yourself to being a better person so that mankind has hope and aspirations for a prolonged future

Mr Pickle, can I be so bold as to ask what you did in a previous life, or do you still work?

I am taking a completely wild stab at that question Rod

and suggesting "apprentice small engine repairer" specifically specialising in the smaller cc 2 stroke variety for arboreal culture and groundwork who then retrained for a white collar career either in administration/teaching ? or health and well being ? or more likely could be involved with something like Air Control at a busy International Airport ? like Bristol ? Maybe even finance ?, lot of white collar workers are in finance. I probably miles off the right answer ? but what the hell lets all have guess at £0.50p a guess with all winnings go towards running the forum
