Computer genius urgently needed !!!

won't log on to firefox page, google search shows the listings but just comes up "cannot display the web page" when I click on any of them. There is a version of firefox on here but was going to install new version. The one that's on just comes up the same as IE, can't connect.

Have you tried to hard wire the pc straight into the back of the router !!!!

Also, try restoring to a previous date, run a virus scan as the internet is the first thing to go when you have a virus

it is hard wired straight into the hub, both are, makes no difference if I disconnect one. Can't download antivirus, won't log on a site.

I think it's going to be a sledge hammer job or target practise

Sounds like a virus to me mate, have you got an anti virus disc that you could boot from, or get someone to download AVG free and malwarebite free to a USB stick and then load it on and run both.

I hate bloody viruses, they take up so much time and are bloody frustating to fix, I have both AVG and Malwarebites on bootable disc for that very reason.

needs internet connection to install avg, so that's out . I'll try other routes and see what happens.

You more than welcome mate , I do think this is a virus issue, the best way to fix is to have AVG/Malwarebites on a backup disk, I know this is the old addage of "Horse/door/bolted" but next time you "will" be prepared

put avg on a memory stick but all it does is try to connect to the net. This pc came to me "as is" from a print room and I was told it worked fine but they obviously never tried to connect to web.
Mat just cart it off somewhere to be done, it'll be simpler

"Print room" those boy's don't look after nothing , I work with these boy's all day long.....suprised it even switches on
