All went pear-shaped again, which has prompted this new message:

"Access to this section, as with the entire forum, is a privilege not a right, one you earn and keep depending on your behaviour. From today, there will be a zero tolerance policy towards any traders in NV gear posting in this section. The same zero tolerance policy will apply to any posters who are obviously bigging up certain kit on behalf of a trader, or slating other kit on behalf of a trader, or are seen to be here with an agenda of any sort."

It's a difficult one.

As I read it, it would prevent any of us extolling the virtues of any given nv gear, just in case we are seen to be promoting that brand.

Does that now prevent any replies to the "what do you think of........?" type of post? Hope not :( .

The tit for tat on the other site gets a bit rediculous where sometimes it's best to just read and not bite and reply but the end of the day threads soon die down where they get forgotten about so I don't see the point of all the banning. I too hope it doesn't stop the reply's to the 'is this any good threads' as there are still some knowlegeable people on there even if the other half are all banned.

Scott's had a run in with the mods on the BBS previously, but they thought Panicky Pete was in partnership with Scott, so I suppose he was on thin ice to start with.
As already said the problem now will be what are you allowed to say about a product for fear of being seen as promoting the goods for a mate, and lets face it, night vision is a fairly tight little group within the UK and once you've been at it for a few years you do get to know the retailers, so where is the line drawn.
There are a lot of threads dying a death already because folk daren't express an opinion for fear of falling foul of the system, maybe this place will fill the gap where you can call a spade a spade without it being construde as promoting your mates ironmongery.

I like Jakes stuff, Clives stuff, Carls stuff, Thomas Jacks stuff, Scott Countrys stuff, Baldies stuff and all of the other retailers/wholesalers/manufacturers of nv gear  (any gratuities will be gratefully accepted :o ).

I may have omitted one or two. That may be that I simply forgot, or, that I believe their stuff to be rubbish ;).

Well, that's me being impartial.
