A way overdue introduction
Hi everyone, i apologise for a very overdue intro. Ive been a member on this forum for over two years and only just getting round to getting in touch. Have been into nv for over 25yrs starting obviously with tubed then about 3yrs ago with digital. One of my early attempts i used a car dvr and a adjustable camera loupe to be able to focus on the 3inch screen, the bigest problem to overcome was finding a suitable scope as i was using it for very close ratting in barns where the cattle was overwintered typical ranges between 5 and 20yrds so as you can imagine fov with magnification was a real problem. How i got round this i used a red dot sight with no magnification at all, the 16mm lense i used in the camera offered a little magnification but if needed the camera has 4x digital zoom but the size of the red dot got too big after about 2.5x but still very usable and the image very good. The IR i used was a 20w halogen lamp with dimmer with a piece of semi covert IR plastic replacing the glass lense left over from the tubed nv days. Then WOW i found this forum, so ime not on my own , and as mad as my mates think i am. Its really great to think theres like minded members out there. Thanks to everybody with all there ideas ive now progressed onto near eye add on and in the process of making a dedicated scope which is coming on really well, will post some pictures when ive sussed out how to do it. And the IR torches no more carrying 7ah lead acid batteries around, haaa bliss.anyway a bit of a long first post but now ive got that of my chest and broke the ice i will continue to add a few posts now and then. Cheers for now Trevor.
