Good scopes for Archer

Post by Dartmoor Peasant » 25 Apr 2016, 08:33

Hello Everyone

Fairly new to the forum but been using an Archer for a couple of years now with a lot of success.
I've got a Nightforce 5.5x22x56 NXS on my rifle and have never been able to get a really crisp image through it with the Archer (which I've now decided would be nice!)
I've adjusted the diopter etc as per instructions from Starlight but am still seeing a blurred fox. It is especially poor under 100 yds.

Would much appreciate knowing from you guys and gals out there what scopes you consider give a good crisp image through your Archers.

I don't want to spend the money on another scope and find the image is no better.

Look forward to hearing your experience on this.

Thanks for that kingsy18.

Two things out of interest:
1. Not sure what calibre you use but does the Bushnell hold zero well?
2. What is the shortest range you can get a clear image at? I see it's parallax adjustment is down to 10 yds, unlike mine which has a low of 50 yds, which is what I think is the cause of all my problems.

Bushnell 6500 4.5-30x50.
I keep on thinking I fancy changing this scope but it works so well I can't bring myself to gamble on a different scope.

Best scope iv used with an archer and iv tried alot of them, is believe it or not ziess conquest 6.5x20x50 wants set up you never have to adjust the parallax fro min to max mag. i also have a Bushnell elelit 4x16x50 and its pretty good but not a patch on my ziess.

Thanks for the advice. Presuming the Zeiss is dearer I'll see what I can get that for before inevitably going for the Bushnell!

The delta optical scopes are getting great reviews at the moment but I am yet to hear how well they work with tubed NV . Daylight performance is meant to be much better than the bushnell scopes

Interesting, I found the Zeiss conquest to be rubbish with the archer and sold it.
Bushnell elite as suggested. New hawke 4-16 X 50 scopes work well. Old ags 3-12x44 not bad. All zero down to about 10 yards if I remember rightly. Currently using the hawke on my hmr. Cracking with the dragonfly on it, but a bit overkill if you are looking at short range.
