I'm BigglezUK, or "Will" according to my Birth Certificate
I'm from St Helens, Merseyside and shoot at Atherton Indoor Range with a view to moving onto Ratting at a couple of permits for customers that we look after in my main line of work, Security.

I'm actually here for advice, but thought why not bundle it all together Those that want to say hello can do, others can offer help with my issue... Virtual beers are on hand for the saviors!

I have a .177 Kral Puncher Armour with a Hawke Sidewinder 30SF-17110 (6.5 - 20), and an Umarex Glock 17 Gen4 4.5mm.



Today I received my first piece of NV kit, something I've been researching for a while and didn't rest on lightly.
A Pard NV007!

Now, I've been super excited about receiving it since last week when I placed the order, but today that excitement has turned into despair. I just can't get the bloody thing to work right!

I can get a beautiful image through the scope, but no eyes on the reticle. If i get a focus on the reticle, then I can't see anything through the scope as it's super blurry.
I set my eye up with the Ocular lens to see a clear image of the reticle, I set the paralax at it's lowest setting as i'm looking to view something at 10 yards, I clamp the bayonet fitting on but can only JUST get it to sit right on the edge of the eyepiece as any closer and I get horrible black shadows at the outer edges, then attach the NV007 and play with the focussing on there and it's just pants.

The other issue I have, does anyone have an app that works with a Galaxy S20? The only one that I found that worked was ppshow and the latency is tragic to say the least!

I have a feeling I'm doing this all horribly wrong and would really appreciate some advice and guidance.

You're definitely doing it wrong
Try this procedure:
1. before attaching the PARD, and if necessary, adjust the scope eyepiece so that the reticle is focussed for your eye
2. Fit the PARD and, if necessary adjust it's position so the the centre of the scope reticle is in the centre of the display.
3. Switch on the menu and adjust the eyepiece focus on the PARD until the menu text is focussed. There may be a small lock screw that allows you to lock the eyepiece in position
4. Now adjust the main focus control on the PARD (the barrel shaped bit on the underside of the PARD) until the scope reticle is in focus.
5. Finally, use the side parallax control on the scope to get the target in focus
When shooting, only the side parallax should need adjusting as the range changes although the the reticle may not stay in focus over the full range of magnification.
Having said that, it's unlikely your scope magnification will ever be much above x6.5 because your field of view will be so narrow that you'll spend most of your time just trying to find the target

I've tried your suggestion step by step and the image is slightly better, however if i put the reticle in the centre of the screen I end up with a black curved shadow at the top of the screen, just like when you don't adjust for the correct eye relief.
The best way I can get a decent image is if I clamp it onto the very tip of the eyepiece, you're talking maybe 5mm of "Grasp", which doesn't seem very sturdy. However, I've seen people saying they also use the Sidewinder with the NV007 and have no issues.
Just noted that the unit is actually the NV007A, not sure if this makes a difference.

Also, on IR setting 3, the unit gets very hot. Is this normal?

Okay, so just tried my wife's Hawke Vantage IR 3-9x50 scope and the Pard works a dream. Lesson learned, don't believe everything you read online

The Hawke sidewinders have a good reputation with the PARD, but x6.5 base magnification is just too much.
You'll get much better results running it a scope with a base mag of 2.5 - 3 or x4 at a push

So if I were to get a Hawke Vantage 2-7x32AO Mil Dot 14111 then that should be perfect right?

The 2-7x32 will be better and easier to use. However, be aware that the small 32mm objective lens is not going to let in as much light as say a 50mm lens.
You said your wifes' 3-9x50 worked well - why not "borrow" it or get another the same?
It has a low enough base magnification to make target aquisition easy enough and a bigger 50mm objective lens to let in plenty light

Whilst borrowing seems like a good idea on paper, she's very protective of her zeroing
So, excellent suggestion with regards to the light allowance, I didn't think of that!
Looking at the Hawke Vantage 3-9x50 AO Mil Dot, only £71 so not breaking the bank with it
Can you see any issue with that one mate?

No, not really.
It's going on a sub12ftlb air rifles, so for the ranges you can realistically shoot at, the Vantage and 007 combo will work perfectly well.
