New to the forum. I’m Chris from Perth, WA. Been here for 13 years. Originally from Liverpool. Got the shooting bug 18 months ago and picked up 2nd hand Diana 52 Springer in .22.

The 52 has been fantastic but it’s heavy and has its challenges with its double recoil thing going on.

Now about to upgrade to my first PCP.

I’ve put up a post in the General NV forum a couple days back about my brand new Pard NV008 LRF giving crazy laser measurements. It’s not had any looks or comments yet as far as I can tell, so if any Pard 8LRF users can offer any suggestions I’d be grateful.

Example, I can stand up and point it at the ground and it’s telling me it’s 13m away. In fact it doesn’t show any low numbers. No 1-12m range. An object 7.5m away (lasered with another device) is 18m via the Pard!

Regarding the LRF, if they're built for longer range (hundreds of yards) they're usually not very good at short range. Many times they're restricted in software not to give any readings below 10 meters/yards. On the other hand stuff that can give you centimeter readings doesn't have the range (e.g. lasers for construction work only work 20 or 40 yards or something).

So it might be some error where the the device errorneously interprets the return pulse and gives multiple of the measured distance or something. There has to be sufficient power in the pulse (and sensitiviness in the sensor) to cover long distances so it's not ideal at short ranges. I think there might also be difference between units, either components are not same, there's some tweaking depending on software version, or things like flaws in lenses.
