Another newbie

Post by woody2906 » 14 Feb 2021, 20:08

hello,
My nv shooting is occassional ratting on a small holding permission. I started off with a torch taped to the barrel with a quality street sweet wrapper as a red filter, this worked for a while. Then I bought a 2nd hand Yukon NVRS which was absolutely useless as it didn't focus at less than 50 mts, these must have been intended for rimfire and above. Yukon later came out with the NVRSF which had an adjustable objective but I didn't buy one.

Next came another dedicated nv sight, a big lump of Belaruse metal, this sat about three inches above the bore requiring massive holdover at short rat ranges, and confusingly the elevation and windage adjustments were arse about face so "up" caused the poi to go down and vice versa..

Then I switched to addons a Yukon NVMT4 and a Cobra Merlin , for me the Yukon was superior to the overrated Merlin. Sadly these have now died and I'm
looking for another addon replacement, the Pard 007 seems to be the favourite at the moment.

I'm sure my nv journey is similar to many of yours, it's come a long way from grainy gen 1 fish eye lenses.
