Inverness. Definitely not nv related.

So can anybody recommend a place to stay in or about Inverness? I am off to Brechin in August for a BBQ so takin the scenic route.
Needs to be bike friendly as there will be two of us on mocicles. Doesn't need to be in Inverness. We jest need food and beer as according to google maps it is a 1300 mile round trip

Brechin via Inverness, that's certainly the long way round. Most of the places up there seem to be very friendly and the food is good. One thing you should watch out for is fuel as petrol stations can be few and far between, I nearly got caught out on a trip up to Kinloss when I couldn't find any petrol along the A9 and scraped into Inverness on fumes. My only regret of the times I visited was visiting the distilleries but having to drive!

Yup. I have found a bike friendly B&B up in Inverness just waiting to hear from them as to if they have rooms available. I will by trying to map out petrol stations to ensure that we don't go out on to fumes. May also carry a spare container. Just in case!

I expected to find fuel on the A9, it was the first time I'd been to Inverness, but there wasn't any. I could have diverted into one of the villages but kept thinking there must be some just up the road. It was miserable cold, wet weather and I just wanted to get there, when I got close to Inverness and saw a bus stop I realised that I must be approaching civilisation again but it's along road with nothing to see except a few ruined crofts and looks much better in sunshine. Enjoy yourself.

Its 110 mile from the petrol station on the inveralmond roundabout to inverness. Fill up there and you can at least enjoy the scenery without stress.

Then watch out for the low flying grouse

and the mobile speed traps. Done that road alot and they sh1t hot

Well all the B&B's are booked along the route. 1300 mile round trip, give or take a bit. So that is one problem sorted. Now however is the slight problem of what I will end up riding. I have a friend who is coming along next month to have a look at my bike. He has been keen on it for a year or so now so it quite likely he will buy it and I won't replace it till the end of the year when I will save a grand over the summer price. Now that in itself isn't a problem as my mate is going on his hardly rideable an so I would fall asleep as he is captain slow. So I am left with taking Mrs Gloops bike, which is Harley styled but is in reality an old, OLD TR1 (not the car) and to be fair it would probably make it once I get the starter working (memo to self, must change roof on the garage to stop the leaks) and as long as I use the sat nav speedo as the cable was too tight and doesn't work any more. Or I can take the ancient CB500 which never fails to start and would definitely get me there but is a little bit small for my tall limbs. And has load of street cred, not. Oh the problem being a victim of fashion.

I spose I better start plotting petrol stops, cos want to be fuelling every 100 miles. Just in case. And ensure I avoid the fumes. Know that feeling. Will be carrying an extra tank of fuel.
All bikes should be able to carry 5 gallons of fuel. But that is just my opinion.
