It's rather quiet tonight.
Why do we use such small bricks for building houses ?

They fit around the windows better

Keep the brickies in work.

My lads a brickie so maybe that's what got me thinking.
If we used bigger bricks although they might need craning into place it would still be quicker, you could have a house up in a day.
I can't see what the problem would be, leave holes for windows and doors just the same.
They would arrive on a wagon, just the same.
Forklift on and forklift off the wagon.
Have a small DIY tower crane or a telehandler to lift the blocks in place.
It just makes so much sense to use bigger bricks.
I'm thinking along the lines of those 4foot wide concrete lego blocks they make for storage walling.

It was quite common on the continent to make prefabricated houses out of concrete sections. They arrive onsite and you just bolt them together. They also have prefab houses over here but much less common and the insurance companies don't like them.

If I had the money I would like one made of wood, the house that is. . But need to be a better location than here.

Often wondered why they don't use bigger bricks tha fit into one another, a bit like lego but made to leave a gap for cement. Bricking would be a doddle then, just slap some cement on, drop the next brick on and tap down until it stops. All you have to do then is clean off the mortar that's oozed out.

Put brickies out of work maybe ? perhaps that's why we still use what we use.

I have certainly seen that with insulation blocks where they were using it as a form of damp coursing like if you built your house into the hill sort of thing.
