Glad i found this forum as it seems to have a wealth of information and knowledgable people.
I live way out in the sticks i Northern Ireland and have a strong interest in nightvision both for shooting and astronomy.
I'm retired due to ill health and fill my time with PC build and repair, some graphics design for a local video company and a bit of photography.
My background is in defence electronics, electro-optics, embedded software and systems integration. I have developed a strong interest in night vision and hope to expand my knowledge on the forum and if possible contribute where i can.

I look forward to many hours of interesting reading and conversations.

As you seem the type to be more interested in the actual science and mechanics of it, rather than 'stick a scope on a gun and whack a rabbit'

Most of the following links relate to image intensifier tubed night vision. Much of the discussion on this forum relates to digital night vision, both commercial and do it yourself.

OZ night vision forum:
http://aunv.blackice.com.au/cgi-bin/nig ... x=projects
Not really a forum, more of a projects and in depth tube data site.

http://www.lahouxoptics.com/
Wog dealer in NV (well, they are past Calais, so... :) ) dig through their site, there are some excellent links on tube specs and science.

German night vision forum:
http://www.gross24.de/nachtsichtforum/i ... 4b5bf4e4b8
Very hard to get access to.

American night vision forum:
http://www.nightvisionforums.com/phpBB3/index.php
Very slow, but several clued in posters, the archives are worth reading.

Euro night vision forum:
http://www.nightvisionforum.eu/
Again rather slow.

Another US night vision forum - basically a private advertising and trolling ground for the Moderator from Tactical Night Vision Company, but lots of good data and fast moving:
http://www.ar15.com/forums/f_6/18_.html

Night Vison forum run by NV dealers who can't stand TNVC:
http://wolverinetechnologiesllc.com/Nig ... /index.php
Not much there, but lots of discussion of the things than TNVC suppress on the main forum, so you can get some balance.

Some tube data sheets here:

A big thanks to everyone for a great friendly welcome.

I am in the fairly early stages of looking at night vision technology for bothe shooting and astronomy.

I am more than happy to help if i can. I think i'll need a bit of time to get familiar with all the data on the forum.
There seem to be a lot of very knowledgable people on here and i look forward to getting involved.

Thanks again for the welcome comments.
