eavning all . i dont know if any one wants these posting up , if not please say . this was the last one i finished before xmass . its an 1830s crookes bowie . it was originally made in Sheffield around 1835 or so and exported to the states between 1836 , 1838 by gravely and wreaks . 10.5 inch long x 38mm wide 6mm thick at the spine . to keep the intregal bolster i ground this from a 10mm thick length of o1 . the handle is a framed handle over a stick tang . i cast the metal by melting down some , nichol , brass , a couple of old bullet cases , an old nickol horse bit , copper , pewter . cast three blocks 15mm thick and set about it with the files  . the scales are buffalo . sorry for my dodgy pics

I find it truly stunning that there are people who can use a file to make things as tidy as that.

My hat is well and truly doffed to you.

Nowt wrong with the pics, mate.

That is truly outstanding craftsmanship. A pure work of art. I'm in awe of your skills, if I'm honest.

thank you gents the young man certanly likes em . i dont really think its not something most people could do if you can use basic tools . i picked up a bit of o1 of evil bay 2.5 years ago after i had to give up work with two nackerd discs , i had no tools or even a vice just a file and a bit an brace . that first one was fugly but worked oh so well . then i made a file guid to keep things flat and true used that for months then upgraded to a small mulltitool belt grinder . i still make the odd knife with just files and whet an dry but as the orders started to come in the little grinder gets more use . but now its time for a bigger grinder as the blades are getting into the 14 , 15 inch range  . i tought my self with good info from bb and the tinterweb . i would sometimes kill for a small lathe but i wouldnt know how to use one
