An apology to three members on here.

Post by some bloke » 31 Oct 2014, 16:48

I think I ought to try and explain myself a bit to three members I have been terse with recently, Matt on open forum - and a couple of others through private messages.

I'm not making an excuse but it might help if I admit I have slight dyslexia and sometimes think it might be slight dementia too, except people aren't supposed to know they have that. :?

Many new members mistakenly think I'm an expert optics chap because of what I do but it may be a good idea to explain that my 'bit of a knack' originates from an accidental discovery of what I could see by removing the add-on from behind my scope one night and looking through it.

I refer to this rather agricultural ting based on a plywood batten:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UiO-hNw ... -OWKFJadkw

That led me to look deeper into the gains to be made from not using a scope and I subsequently got to this;
http://nightvisionforumuk.com/viewtopic ... icated+rig

That in turn evolved into something better after a very clever forum member called Roland (of rolaids bench videos) from the USA showed us a better camera with privacy zones that could be made into crosshairs.

Long story short then, I'm just some bloke in a shed trying to make things better for people with a DIY mindset to make low light shooting rigs which has sort of morphed into supplementing my taxi driver takings by making unique and difficult for Joe Blogg things with a not very brilliant bench hobby lathe and a bit of a knack for putting things together.

I sort of subconsciously expect other people can do the same things as me - but we are all better at some things than others. There are many things I've tried to do and failed miserably, laying blue bricks for my conservatory base was one example. :x

The mental issues - if that's what they - are stem from me not being able to cope with questions I either can't answer, read wrongly or just think I have already answered and can't think of a better way to say them, added to a bit of a Victor Meldrew outlook as I get older.

So - I just want to publically say I'm sorry guys.

She could cheer me up anytime lol.

There is more to this than an apology to be honest. I'd like it known that I'm not mr clever cloggs and much of what I do on here has been stumbled on and learned with the help from some members on here.

It's also a bit of a heads up that I'm getting a bit absent minded and make silly mistakes. Whilst members have been very good about it - I seem to be mis-reading some very simple PMs quite frequently - and sometimes forget to include something in a package I send out.

Only last week I had a guy insulting me via email because I'd forgot to tell him about the postage charge - so I refunded his paypal payment so he could start it again with a single payment to keep things simple. Well it seems I am a robbing barsteward who should stand by the post included price he asked for because he's only just opened his paypal account and can't recover the £16 for the lens and spacer for two weeks. There will be big trouble if he doesn't get his cash back - and I should pay him £5 for the inconvenience.

He says it's the second time I have ripped him off because the first time I failed to supply batteries in something - but I don't know what, and have never sold batteries.

Anyway - if I mess up again I just hope people bear the above in mind.

"You can't please all of the people all of the time" springs to mind, Dave.

Don't let it get to you, mate.
