Cobra Merlin = Dipol D125 with a different sticker. All I can say is that users on this forum have stated the D125/Merlin is sturdier, the Pulsar Challenger has better optics.

Building a screened unit? 250 quid will give you an E700 based unit, complete with screen, torch, batteries, mounts, charger, DSA. A lot cheaper than a buying an NS200 and better range and resolution.
True, its finding the parts, particularly a screen that is slightly enclosed so as to be more user friendly )NiteSite has this sorted nicely.

Dan71:
The Cobra Merlin is the Dipol 125. Dipol are a Russian manufacturer of night vision gear. They have a good reputation as far as quality of their housings. The tubes they buy in. Cobra Optics buy Dipol products and sell them under their own brand. This is not unusual, Dipol are a manufacturer rather than a marketer, their products can be found 're-badged' in Australia, Canada and the USA under various names.

Pulsar are a Belorussian company. They manufacture and market their own products. They also sell to other companies to re-brand. Pulsar have the 'Gen1+' tubes in some of their units.

o.p, The biggest difference between the cobra/dipol and the pulsar is the DSA (day scope adaptor)

The pulsar one is about £30 while the cobra is about £130.....can't say for sure if they are interchangeable but its sommat to bear in mind when pricing up

hi dan71 , theres a mk1 photon for sale on hear its going cheep and i can tell you with a t20 ir you can't go wrong .
I have just bought one from my local supplier and im impressed with it i find it better than the gen 1 pulsar, & like you i don't have the time or have never made anything like a home brew so its a cheep way to get into night vision . Thats just my opinion though i mainly use night vision for ratting in buildings i prefer to use a lamp for rabbits .
