I too got my original Tikka mount off Neil too and paid the same as you but I imagine all the associated production costs have gone up since then and found their way added to the finished product.
The Sako mount made by Sam is without doubt an excellent piece of kit but was never going to be cheap, I couldn't get on with extended rails on the Sako (not cheap so I borrowed some to try) so I invested in one of Sam's mounts and have found it as good as Neil's.
