There are no such things as red IR illuminators, green IR illuminators or black IR illuminators
IR means Infra Red - beyond the red end of the spectrum of visible light - so IR is not visible to the human eye (or your target's eyes)
Red light and green light are visible to the human eye (and your targets eyes)
If you want to hunt at night without your target being able to see you, then you need an IR (infra red) illuminator and a night vision device capable of seeing the infra red light.
You can use a green or a red light, but your target will see it and may be scared by it and run away before you can shoot it.
If you use a green or red light you will not need any special night vision device - your normal riflescope will work.
Hope that helps
Cheers
Bruce

850nm infrared is best for digital, Gen 2 or Gen 3 night vision devices.
Red LEDs are best for 'spotlighting' or 'lamping', hunting with a visible light at night. Animals are more likely to run from green or white lights.
If you have a 'Gen 1' tubed night vision then an 808nm laser is usually the best product.
