Well, I need funding for thermal, so all my project stuff needs to go. I got addicted to IR and most probably will only keep a PVS14...
So lessee what we have here.
This is a DEP XX1440 tube, it would be roughly an equivalent for good old EEV P8306C (however made years later, I believe), it's basically the tube that went inside the Pilkington Kite, and I believe also the L6A1 british NV.
It is a 18mm fiber optic output inverting image intensifier tube, powered by 3,7V (but it powers up just fine with 3V), has a S25 fiber optic PC input window and although used, is in great condition.
Perfectly working, very clear and with almost no blemishes, gain is excellent and image is good. Comparing with my MX9916 reference tube, which is a 28-30 lp/mm and has a 280 uA/lm PC, i'd say this tube should be at least a 32-36 lp/mm and sensibility should be around 320 or more. No snow, scintillation, or other hints that the tube will go bad or to air.
May have a very, very faint ghost image of the "V" reticle that was used in the Kite, visible only in very bright conditions (actually, I personally like it...). It draws very little current, indication of excellent heath of the power supply. As you all know, these tubes are quite "fat", but can be dremeled and split open, inside the boot there is a lot of potting and then it has the same diameter of a standard MX9916 form factor (at least a10mm longer though), and then can be used in almost every commercial housing out there.
Images of the actual tube upon request - I dont have a housing to test it, but I can fire it up and place it over a business card to show it works.
Sold as is, though!
I'd like to get 180 £ shipped - price reduced!
